Economy

Image
The biggest difference between Utopia and Turkey is the economical structure. When I wanted to buy a gift froma gift shop, I asked the price. Seller looked at me and tried to understand what I mean. Raphy interfered and said "We don't have prices or money here" I was shocked again. How can an economy live without money. I couldn't comprehend it. It didn't take long Raphy to explain the system. Every demand is supplied. In other words, nothing is missing that's why people don't need money or exchange.

International relations

Something that I notice was the shining people while working hard. They were wearing all gold and silver. They must be very wealthy but they were working hard. Before asking Rephy, he understood my situation and told me the situation of them. As opposed to my opinions, they were not wealthy but slaves. War prisoners or serious criminals are treated as slaves. By exhibiting them, the state aims to young people to have a better moral education. I think that it is not a humane punishment.

State

Image
After my previous posts, I am sure you realized that the state is too strict in Utopia. According to Raphy, for exampl, the state can force people to migrate to other cities, even out of the island. Also, you cannot arbitrarily move to another city becuse the population must be conserved. The state also force people to be virtous.

Interpersonal relations

After a quick tour in the city, we returned Raphy's home for dinner. While I was expecting a small humble dinner, many relatives were waiting for me. After meeting all, we started to eat. The oldest man was the father of Raphy and he said that they always dine together. After dinner, the grandfather started to talk about some philosphical subjects. Yes, that was incredibly boring. However, everbody was looking like enjoyed except me. When that long ceremony is completed, I asked Raphy to go to a bar just for fun but he laughed and said "We don't have such places here but we can play chess if you want to enjoy." After surprising, I accepted his offer and played. It wasn't that bad, I think I am getting familiar with the life here.

Occupations

Image
Hi again, I will write about the occupations of the people of Utopia in this post. My friend Raphy is a jeweller and he has a store in the Amaurot. I asked him that why he chose to be a jeweller and he told the interesting story of professionals in Utopia. I think you will be surprised when learn the tradition. Children must learn the their fathers' occupation according to laws. If a child wants to learn another trade, he/she is adopted into a different family. Even though this seems cruel, their primary concern is balancing the population of professionals. Balancing the distribution, they try to minimize the employment rate. As you know, unemployment is a big problem in Turkey for years. While many people are unemployed, many of them working a minimum wage job. Another interesting concept is that people work only six hours per day. You may be wondering how things are getting done in such a short time. I asked this to Raphy and he answered "We don't have idlers here,

The capital city

Image
Hi, I started to visit the cities of Utopia with Raphy. Our first stop is Amaurot, the capital city. Raphy said that we don't need to visit all cities because they are almost same. So, I will just talk about Amaurot. The first thing I notice is the river at the center of city. It is called Anyder. This river is some kind of symbol of the city and it s is very significant for inhabitants. It is grand as compared to Ankara River . It doesn't smell bad or it is not unwanted unlike the Ankara River. While wandering streets, you can see that buildings are very uniform and streets are very smooth and well-planned. Actually, it is too boring to see the same thing everywhere. Raphy invited me to his house and said "We don't have locks on the doors, anyone can enter into any house. We also exhange the houses every ten years." This sounds very interesting because we are not used to the idea of common property . Their mindset is completely different from ours. So, you

How to get to Utopia?

Hello, I started to travel Utopia last week with my friend Raphy. He is a local in Utopia and helps me to discover here. I will talk about the customs of Utopia and comparet them with Turkey during my trip. I hope you enjoy! The only way to reach Utopia is a ship. Since there are too many obstacles on the sea, cruising without a guide is nearly impossible. This makes me confuesed because reaching my country is very easy compared to Utopia. You can do it by bus, airplane, train, ship, even walking if you are determined enough. Before arriving, Raphy told me some interesting details about Utopia on the ship. For example, Utopia takes its name from the general Utopus, the conquereor of Utopia. This is very similar to Anatolian beyliks  that are called after their founders. Actually, Ottoman Empire is one of them because its original name is Osmanoğulları (Sons of Osman). Raphy said that there are fifty-four cities in the Utopia and they are same in terms of manners, customs and l
